Colorado’s medical waste disposal regulations are managed by the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, Hazardous Materials and Waste Management Division. The complete detailed disposal requirements are outlined in Medical Waste Regulations, Section 13 (pdf) In addition to the state medical waste environmental regulations there are some Occupational Safety and Health Administration rules that apply to medical/infectious waste. OSHA rules (Occupational Exposure to Bloodborne Pathogens Standards) impact various aspects of medical/infectious waste, including management of sharps, requirements for containers that hold or store medical/infectious waste, labeling of medical/infectious waste bags/containers, and employee training.

[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][et_pb_column type=”1_4″][et_pb_divider height=”70″ _builder_version=”3.0.60″ /][et_pb_text _builder_version=”3.0.60″ background_color=”#f2f2f2″ use_border_color=”on” border_color=”#e0e0e0″ custom_padding=”20px|10px|20px|10px” custom_css_main_element=”border-radius:10px;” background_layout=”light” text_orientation=”left” border_style=”solid”]

Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment

OSHA (federal)

.
