A generator may not treat, store, dispose of, transport, or offer for transportation, special medical waste without having received a Maryland identification number from the state.<\/p>\n

Maryland\u2019s medical waste disposal regulations are managed by the Maryland Department of Environment. The complete detailed disposal requirements are outlined at the Department of Environment\u00a0website In addition to the state medical waste environmental regulations there are some Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) rules that apply to medical\/infectious waste. Maryland is one of 21 states operating an approved occupational safety and health program. This program is operated by Maryland Occupational Safety and Health Division.
